Cold Modified Del Nido Cardioplegia in Adults Undergoing Aortic Valve Replacement (AVR)

Abstract

Investigations were carried out on the modified del Nido (MDN) cardioplegia with a longer period of cardiac arrest. The study population included 152 patients treated with aortic valve replacement (AVR) A significant difference was observed in the need for inotropic support, with Kirklin cardioplegia having a significantly higher need of moderate doses, while MDN more frequently allowed for the absence of inotropic support (p<0.001). Mean ICU stay and in hospital stay were statistically significantly higher in patients treated with Kirklin cardioplegia compared to those with MDN cardioplegia (p<0.001 and p=0.02, respectively).
