This paper presents the results of various studies conducted in the highlands of the Azerbaijani part of the Main Caucasus and the Lateral Ridges of the Greater Caucasus, utilizing materials from field surveys and the interpretation of satellite images. These findings, in conjunction with an analysis of previous research, allowed for the characterization of highland natural conditions, the identification of highly degraded mountain landscape areas, and the determination of optimal strategies for preserving the natural environment.
